We have been covering the concepts of Order of Operations and started area and perimeter of squares and rectangles.We will have a math test on Friday on Order of Operations (identical to tonight's homework).
SCIENCE: Homework ~ preview ch 7. READ lessons 1 and 2
IN CLASS: We started our Body Systems Research Report today by covering the expectations, due date (DEC 4), and wrote out the outline. Your
child will be doing most all of the rough draft and rewrite and editing here at school so that I can work with him/her on the correct
structure of a 5 paragraph essay. Once that phase is complete, he/she is welcome to take it home and get help transfering the essay
onto a computer, printing it out and bringing it in to class. More editing will be done and a final draft will then be expected. Your child
will also be expected to give a short presentation to the class about one of the systems. We will also work on the first phase of the
presentation/project here at school. The dissection dates/times are as follows:
Dec 6 8:45 Frazee

Dec 11 10:30 Alvey
All dissections will take place in the center room of the 500 pod.

Dear Parents,
Due to my absences the past week, I chose to postpone this week’s spelling test. The students will get vocabulary words on Monday and we will be back to our regular routine next week. Spelling test will be Thursday and vocabulary test will be on Friday.
***AR goals were altered to reflect 20 minutes of reading each night. This lowered the number of points needed to get to 100%***

Classwork-Reading Literacy Circles, Sign of the Beaver. We are now finished with Theme 1 in our reading anthology. We will be taking the theme tests and moving into Theme 2. Weekly vocabulary and spelling tests from the Theme will continue. Integrated into the Theme will be an emphasis on writing. Students will be developing paragraphs and essays that include prewriting skills, rough drafts, and final revisions. This will include the use of root words, prefixes, suffixes, so some of the vocabulary lists will come from writing book.
Science - Homework:get elements/compounds quiz signed and any unfinished classwork (notebook pages 15-16 Lesson 1-2)

Classwork was identifying the rising action in the story Worst of Friends. We will continue to identify the climax and resolution tomorrow and then write a summary of the story. We are working on singular and proper nouns. We will also be working on simple subjects and simple predicates.
Math-Homework is page 109 in the Homework Practice Book. Do not do problems 1,2,11, and 12.
Remember, when two variables are "touching"...for example "ab", that means to multiply.
We are continuing to mulitply and divide fractions in class.
Science - Sub today. NO homework (unless you have unfinished classwork - see below)
